Basketball Recap: Merkel Comes Up Short

Merkel lost against Wall on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Merkel Badgers took a 53-34 bruising from the Wall Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1394th, while the Hawks are ranked 604th).

Merkel has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Wall, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-10.

Merkel has already played their next contest (against Jim Ned), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wall has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Clyde.
