Softball Recap: Mena Triumphs

Mena's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 14-1 margin over the Paris Eagles. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bearcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Abi Koppein made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one double.

In other batting news, Mena got a massive performance out of Jayden Cox, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Emmi Hensley, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Mena's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Coming up, Mena will square off against Cossatot River at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paris, they will challenge Lamar at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Paris is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
