Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

After soaring to 73 points the game before, St. Mary was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They were outmatched by the Canisius Crusaders and fell 65-29. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-17.

When it comes to explaining why St. Mary's lost, don't look at Will Szablewski. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 on his way to 17 points and seven boards. Szablewski's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Canisius, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Akron will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something St. Mary's surely won't give up without a fight. As for Canisius, they will take on Bishop Timon-St. Jude at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Bishop Timon-St. Jude's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 16 contests.
