Baseball Game Preview: Sam Rayburn Texans vs. Manvel Mavericks

The Sam Rayburn Texans are taking a road trip to square off against the Manvel Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sam Rayburn is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs last Friday, they were much more limited against Alvin on Friday. They lost 12-2 to the Yellowjackets. The Texans have struggled against the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Manvel got the win against South Houston on Saturday by a conclusive 11-4. The Mavericks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Brayden Tuiasosopo, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Tuiasosopo wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Manvel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. Manvel is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Manvel's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Sam Rayburn, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-2.

Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sam Rayburn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Manvel struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Sam Rayburn might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Manvel when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Sam Rayburn avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
