Recap: Piedmont Panthers vs. Central Eagles
The Piedmont Panthers's game on Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Central as Piedmont made off with a 48-27 win. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 14 more assists than your opponent, as Piedmont did.
Piedmont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikayla Baucom, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals. Ada Allen was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordyn Griffin, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kabreyia Covington, who scored 5 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.
The win got Piedmont back to even at 1-1. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Piedmont will be playing at home against East Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. East Gaston is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Forest Hills at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 61 points per game, Forest Hills has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this match.
