Basketball Recap: Raphael Kalala Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hampton Prep

There's no place like home for Ranchview, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Hampton Prep on Saturday as the Ranchview Wolves made off with a 68-43 win. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while Hampton Prep are ranked 1416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ranchview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Raphael Kalala, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds. Kalala has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kishone Zachariah, who went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points.

Ranchview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Ranchview has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Hampton Prep, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ranchview will take on Williams Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hampton Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Hills Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
