Softball Recap: Elk Grove Grenadiers vs. Buffalo Grove Bison
Elk Grove had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 10-12 to make it four. They fell just short of the Buffalo Grove Bison by a score of 3-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bison this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-5 back in April.
Bella Andrade spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Elk Grove saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aliya Garcia, who went 1-for-4 with one double. Kaitlin Wirtz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
As for Buffalo Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.
On Buffalo Grove's side, Leah Hampton was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emaline Sara, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elk Grove will face off against Elmwood Park at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Buffalo Grove, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Libertyville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
