LEE hasn't had much luck against Churchill recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The LEE Volunteers will head out on the road to face off against the Churchill Chargers at 7:30 p.m. LEE is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.2 points per game this season.
LEE took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 64-28 win over Madison. Given the Volunteers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Mavericks are ranked 918th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead LEE to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rosanelly Pastrano, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Pastrano has scored at least a third of LEE's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilah Yanover, who went 8 of 13 en route to 18 points and six rebounds.
LEE was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison only posted six assists.
Meanwhile, Churchill waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They had just enough and edged the Jaguars out 49-47.
Churchill's win came from a few key players LEE will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Alina Hernandez, who posted 14 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2024. Daphne Zuniga was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.
Churchill's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-5. As for LEE, their record is now 19-9.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. LEE hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.2 points per game. However, it's not like Churchill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.6 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
LEE ended up a good deal behind Churchill in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 69-51. Can LEE avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
