Basketball Recap: South River Starts Season with Victory at Home

South River gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They escaped with a win against the Middlesex Bluejays by the margin of a single free throw, 64-63. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Middlesex dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

South River and Old Bridge will compete for holiday cheer at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. As for Middlesex, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Middlesex Bluejays duke it out with the J.P. Stevens Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
