Basketball Recap: Lexi Cipollini and Tula Diamantaras Secure Win for Tarpon Springs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clearwater, Tarpon Springs was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They secured a 36-32 W over the Central Bears. This was a revenge game for the Spongers: when they faced off against the Bears last Thursday, they had to take a 33-22 defeat.

Tarpon Springs was led to victory by Tula Diamantaras and Lexi Cipollini. Diamantaras posted 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Cipollini had four points in addition to 16 boards and four steals. Those four steals gave Cipollini a new career-high.

Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Felicia Taylor, who earned five points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelis Gentry, who put up seven points and three blocks.

Tarpon Springs' win bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Central, they dropped their record down to 4-16 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Tarpon Springs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-25 loss against East Lake on the 28th. As for Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 39-31 defeat against Hernando on the 24th.
