Basketball Game Preview: South Pointe Stallions vs. Camden Bulldogs

South Pointe has won 16 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Camden has won 16 straight on the road also dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The South Pointe Stallions will host the Camden Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. South Pointe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matches -- so hopefully Camden likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, South Pointe didn't have too much breathing room in their game against A.C. Flora, but they still walked away with a 65-59 win. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Falcons are ranked 55th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Pointe to victory, but perhaps none more so than JaNyia Cunningham, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 boards. Cunningham has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Serenity Woods, who posted 18 points and six rebounds.

South Pointe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Camden hadn't done well against Dreher recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Camden claimed a resounding 74-31 victory over Dreher. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 34 points or more this season.

South Pointe's win bumped their record up to 13-0. As for Camden, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

South Pointe ended up a good deal behind Camden in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, losing 61-42. Thankfully for South Pointe, Joyce Edwards (who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
