Basketball Recap: Aspire Langston Hughes Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against River Islands

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Aspire Langston Hughes Academy). They came out on top against the River Islands Riptide by a score of 78-65 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Titans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

River Islands' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Radoc Factoran, who posted 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Radoc Factoran a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Idrees ElFarra, who went 7 for 14 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for River Islands, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy will host Venture Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Venture Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Aspire Langston Hughes Academy likes a good challenge. As for River Islands, they will welcome Trinity Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Trinity Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.1 points per game this season.
