Ridgefield is 9-1 against Mark Morris since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Ridgefield Spudders are taking a road trip to challenge the Mark Morris Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Ridgefield has ten wins dating back to last season, while Mark Morris has 16 dating back to last season).
Ridgefield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Camas by a score of 13-10 on Tuesday. With that victory, the Spudders brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
Tava Whitlow and Charlie Harris did most of the damage at the plate: Whitlow scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-5, while Harris scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Whitlow also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Mckenzie Bowling was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Ridgefield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They got five more hits than Camas' also-impressive total of 15.
Meanwhile, everything went Mark Morris' way against Evergreen on Wednesday as Mark Morris made off with a 14-1 win.
Shyanne Sellers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Mark Morris got a massive performance out of Mikaila Warfield, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Megan Fugleberg, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Mark Morris' victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgefield, their record now sits at 4-0.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ridgefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .444. However, it's not like Mark Morris struggles in that department as they've averaged .405. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ridgefield couldn't quite finish off Mark Morris in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can Ridgefield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
