Basketball Game Preview: Canutillo Eagles vs. El Paso Tigers

Canutillo and El Paso are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Canutillo Eagles will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the El Paso Tigers at 7:00 p.m. El Paso took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Canutillo, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, Canutillo strolled past Jefferson with points to spare, taking the game 35-16. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-37, which was the final score in El Paso's tilt against Burges on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1038th, while the Mustangs are ranked 324th).

Canutillo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-14 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for El Paso, they dropped their record down to 8-23 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Canutillo didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against El Paso in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 28-23 win. Does Canutillo have another victory up their sleeve, or will El Paso turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
