Baseball Recap: Altamont Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Altamont had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Dyson Wagner's shutout, as he gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Altamont saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper McManaway, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Altamont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.

Altamont pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Altamont will venture away from home to face off against Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Ramsey at 4:30 p.m. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.75 runs per game on average), something the Bobcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
