Basketball Game Preview: Pittsburg Panthers vs. Kiowa Cowboys

Pittsburg is 2-8 against Kiowa since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Pittsburg Panthers will head out to take on the Kiowa Cowboys at 8:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Pittsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Crowder, taking the game 60-50.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kiowa). They blew past Canadian, posting an 82-45 win. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Cougars are ranked 453rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kiowa is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Pittsburg, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Pittsburg might still be hurting after the 58-35 loss they got from Kiowa in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Pittsburg avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
