Cedaredge hasn't had much luck against Coal Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bruins will be home for the holidays to greet the Titans at 7:30 p.m.
Cedaredge fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Plateau Valley on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 54-51. The contest marked the Bruins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Despite their loss, Cedaredge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rylan Brooks, who posted 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Mannon, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Coal Ridge entered their tilt with Summit on Saturday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Tigers 71-34. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Cedaredge better keep an eye on Diego Gamez. He was instrumental in Coal Ridge's win, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 21 points along with six assists and five boards. Gamez is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Gio Parker was another key player, putting up five points and three steals.
Coal Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Cedaredge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Coal Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Cedaredge has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Coal Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Cedaredge was taken down by Coal Ridge 72-35 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bruins were down 43-19.
