Baseball Recap: Nipmuc Regional Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Nipmuc Regional won the last time they faced Douglas and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Warriors' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 15-0 shutout. The Warriors' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Josh Giancola made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

In other batting news, Grady O'Neil was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Metcalf, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Nipmuc Regional was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Nipmuc Regional's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Douglas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nipmuc Regional will square off against Blackstone-Millville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Douglas, they will face off against Leicester at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
