Softball Recap: Canyon View Finds Playoff Glory Versus Cienega

It's playoff time, and Canyon View had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cienega Bobcats on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-1. The win was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won nine matchups in a row.

Emily Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Makenzie Jones was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sedona Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Canyon View pushed their record up to 26-4 with the victory, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cienega, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 24-8 record.

Looking ahead, Canyon View will square off against Canyon del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Dorados will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. Cienega does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
