There's no place like home for Huntingtown, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They took their matchup on Thursday with ease, bagging a 55-27 victory over the Patuxent Panthers. Given the Hurricanes' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Panthers are ranked 218th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Huntingtown was led to victory by Eva Powell and Sofia Hoetzlein-Sirman. Powell dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards, while Hoetzlein-Sirman posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Huntingtown is undefeated when Powell posts eight or more rebounds, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Soraya Prince, who earned seven points.

Huntingtown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Huntingtown's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points over those games. As for Patuxent, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Huntingtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Patuxent, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northern at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Patuxent is facing Northern at the right time seeing as Northern is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
