Softball Recap: Freedom Gets the Win

Freedom posted their closest win since April 19, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past the Patton Panthers 12-10. 12 seems to be a good number for the Patriots as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

The team relied heavily on Abigayle Gibson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Keileigh Clontz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Gibson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Freedom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. Freedom is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. Patton's loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Freedom didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-2 defeat against West Caldwell on the 10th. As for Patton, they are taking a road trip to take on East Rutherford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
