Baseball Recap: Lynn Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lynn had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They put the hurt on the Vina Red Devils with a sharp 15-1 win. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Austin Dodd and Hunter Ellis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Dodd struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Ellis pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Dodd scored three runs and stole Five bases. while going 4-for-4, while Ellis scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Dunagan, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Kyler Jordan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

Lynn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Lynn pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Vina, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lynn will welcome Marion County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vina, they will host Hackleburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vina has given up an average of 14 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
