Baseball Recap: Madison Wins Going Away Against Onsted

Madison barely beat Onsted the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 8-1 win on Thursday. Considering the Trojans have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison got a great performance from Cole Grof as he struck out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Grof a new career-high.

At the plate, Norman Frederick was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Ashton Hoag was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

The victory made it two in a row for Madison and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Onsted, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will host Northwest at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Onsted, they will face off against Hudson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
