Softball Game Preview: Ipswich Tigers vs. Manchester Essex Hornets

The Ipswich Tigers will face off against the Manchester Essex Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Ipswich will be strutting in after a win while Manchester Essex will be coming in after a loss.

Ipswich will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Rockport on Wednesday. The Tigers blew past the Vikings 22-1.

Elin Roberts was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Lola Morley was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Manchester Essex came up short against Amesbury on Thursday, falling 19-7. The loss put an end to the Hornets' undefeated start to the season.

The victory got Ipswich back to even at 1-1. As for Manchester Essex, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Ipswich might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Manchester Essex in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
