Tea Cornett made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits. Cornett was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
In other batting news, Brentsville District got a big performance out of Natalie Marvin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taylor Saunders, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Fauquier never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Kettle Run on Monday. Everything went their way against the Cougars as they made off with a 16-6 win. Fauquier's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brentsville District took their victory against Fauquier when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 11-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brentsville District since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
