Basketball Recap: Westside Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Westside won the last time they faced Lamar and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Westside Wolves came out on top against the Lamar Texans by a score of 45-35. Winning may never get old, but the Wolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jakaila Matlock, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dakota Dale, who posted six points along with eight boards and three steals.

Westside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Lamar lost, don't look at Phoenix Sneed. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Sneed is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Mansour, who put up two points in addition to five assists, five boards, and four steals.

Westside is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Lamar, they moved to 10-7 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Westside has already played their next matchup (against Bellaire), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lamar will be playing in front of their home fans against Wisdom at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Lamar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.
