Softball Recap: Deep Run Comes Up Short

Deep Run fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Cosby on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 5-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost four in a row.

Braelyn Baulsir was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Tate, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Deep Run's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cosby, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Coming up, Deep Run will host J.R. Tucker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.14 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cosby, they will head out on the road to face off against Clover Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
