Basketball Recap: Platt Comes Up Short

Platt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Middletown Blue Dragons. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Middletown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Annabella Waters, who posted nine points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Hendrix, who had seven points and five boards.

Platt's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Middletown, they moved to 2-12 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Platt and Middletown could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings. Platt (ranked 101st) will meet Berlin (ranked 15th) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Middletown will face off against Southington at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday down 102 places (109 vs. 7).
