Basketball Recap: Rushford-Peterson Skates Past Mabel-Canton with Ease

Rushford-Peterson waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 79-44 victory over the Mabel-Canton Cougars. The Trojans' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Mabel-Canton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darian Hershberger, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Larson, who posted eight points and five boards.

Rushford-Peterson pushed their record up to 20-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 89.7 points over those games. As for Mabel-Canton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-15.

Rushford-Peterson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 83-50 victory against La Crescent/La Crescent Montessori & Stem on the 17th. As for Mabel-Canton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-30 defeat against Houston on the 17th.
