Baseball Game Preview: Lenawee Christian Cougars vs. Sand Creek Aggies

Lenawee Christian is 0-4 against Sand Creek since March of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cougars will welcome the Aggies at 4:00 p.m.

Lenawee Christian is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They fell 7-4 to Concord.

Sand Creek not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 18-3). They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Pittsford. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aggies.

Jackson Sutherland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Sutherland was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ivan Wilkinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Sand Creek is 7-2 when Wilkinson posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Dane Morrin, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Sand Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.

The win got Sand Creek back to even at 10-10. As for Lenawee Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Lenawee Christian suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Sand Creek in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
