Basketball Recap: Northern Guilford Picks Up Tenth Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and Northern Guilford had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took down the Rocky River Ravens 48-31 on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Nighthawks sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Leading Northern Guilford to victory were Leena McField and Malena DeLisa. McField dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds, while DeLisa posted five points along with 11 steals and seven assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which McField has scored at least a third of Northern Guilford's points. Another player making a difference was Olivia Bayer, who had 11 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Northern Guilford was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They are 15-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the loss, Rocky River still got an impressive performance from MaKenzie Michael, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards. Michael has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last eight times she's played. Tristin Jarrett was another key player, putting up eight points.

Northern Guilford pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. As for Rocky River, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-9.

Coming up, Northern Guilford will challenge Charlotte Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern Guilford is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season. Rocky River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
