Preview: Gretna Dragons vs. Bellevue East Chieftains

The Gretna Dragons and the Bellevue East Chieftains will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at. Gretna is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Gretna on the road against Bryan as the squad secured a 45-5 win. That 45-5 margin sets a new team best for Gretna this season.

Gretna found their leader in underclassman Ava Mcartor, who scored 11 points. Anna Weberg was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Meanwhile, Bellevue East struggled with threes last Friday (Papillion-LaVista had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bellevue East lost to Papillion-LaVista on the road by a decisive 54-38 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bellevue East has scored all season.

Bellevue East's defeat came about despite a quality game from Mya Weber, who scored six points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazlin Reimer, who scored six points.

The victory got Gretna back to even at 4-4. As for Bellevue East, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Gretna came up short against Bellevue East in their previous matchup on December 2nd, falling 62-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bellevue East's TNiyah Wilson-Smith, who scored 37 points. Now that Gretna knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
