Softball Game Preview: Brookville Blue Devils vs. Arcanum Trojans

The Brookville Blue Devils will take on the Arcanum Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brookville's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five games.

While Brookville's win against Valley View wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Spartans 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted against the Spartans since May 11, 2022.

Rylan Eagle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Libby Nutter, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Maya Haydon, who scored three runs.

Brookville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Arcanum got themselves on the board against Dixie on Thursday, but Dixie never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Greyhounds. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Brookville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Arcanum, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
