University Prep hadn't done well against Hesperia Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Jaguars never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 10-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Connor Byrom, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Hesperia Christian off the board. Byrom has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Angel Herrera and Baxter Andersen did most of the damage at the plate: Herrera went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Andersen went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

University Prep's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Hesperia Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.

University Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Patriots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
