Football Recap: Toms River East Triumphs Behind Punishing Ground Game

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Toms River North, Toms River East was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They never let the Barnegat Bengals get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Bengals: they've now won three in a row.

Brandon Siebert had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 87 yards and one score, and also picked up 36 receiving yards.

Siebert was just one part of a punishing run game: Toms River East was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 214 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Barnegat only rushed for 53 rushing yards.

Toms River East now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Barnegat, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Toms River East didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-6 win against Lakewood on the 19th. As for Barnegat, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 28-0 defeat against Lacey Township on the 19th.
