Basketball Recap: Clarkson/Leigh Takes a Loss

Clarkson/Leigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 59-49 to the Archangels Catholic Defenders. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Defenders are ranked 93rd).

Despite the loss, Clarkson/Leigh still got an impressive performance from Kyle McMullin, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave McMullin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Matthies, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Clarkson/Leigh's record is now 2-12. As for Archangels Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Clarkson/Leigh won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pender at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pender will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Clarkson/Leigh surely won't give up without a fight. As for Archangels Catholic, they will be taking part in a tournament against Heartland Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
