Baseball Recap: Bloomington Starts Season with Win at Home

Bloomington took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Pacific Pirates 14-2. That's more bragging rights for the Bruins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Ricardo Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Navarro, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Nathan Martin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.

Bloomington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-4 victory against Fontana on the 20th. Pacific has also already played their next game (against Public Safety Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
