Softball Recap: Ellet Falls Short of Archbishop Hoban in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ellet can now relate to. They lost 12-5 to the Archbishop Hoban Knights on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Orangemen, who until this match were averaging 3.88 runs allowed.

Riley Kearns was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Ellet's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6. As for Archbishop Hoban, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Ellet does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Archbishop Hoban, they will take on Padua Franciscan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bruins will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
