Football Recap: Jadon Cabrales' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wayne Valley over Northern Highlands

After soaring to 37 points the game before, Wayne Valley was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They took a 21-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northern Highlands Highlanders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 31-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Wayne Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jadon Cabrales, who picked up 114 receiving yards and one score. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 70 yards. Danny Ferrauilo was another key player, throwing for 201 yards and one touchdown while completing 77.3% of his passes.

Wayne Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Northern Highlands, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Wayne Valley will head out to square off against Passaic Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Northern Highlands, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hackensack at 6:15 p.m.
