Football Recap: Dalton Comes Up Short

Dalton lost against Hiram back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Catamounts received a blow as they fell 48-34 to the Hornets.

When it comes to explaining why Dalton lost, don't look at Nash Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 146 yards and three scores, and also picked up 48 receiving yards. Caine Woods was another key player, rushing for 53 yards and one TD.

Dylan Maina had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 209 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries for Hiram. Those 209 rushing yards gave Maina a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Lindley, who rushed for 84 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Dalton's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Hiram, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, Dalton and Hiram will both be playing Cedartown the next time they take the field. The Hornets will head out to face the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Catamounts will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th.
