Soccer Recap: Godwin Takes a Loss

If Godwin was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Cosby on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Deep Run Wildcats on Friday. While losing is never fun, Godwin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Deep Run are ranked eighth).

Godwin's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Deep Run, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Godwin will host Maggie Walker at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Deep Run, they will be playing in front of their home fans against J.R. Tucker at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deep Run will be up against J.R. Tucker's rather soft defense (which has allowed 3.75 goals per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
