Lyons-Decatur Northeast had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Tekamah-Herman Tigers with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday. The Cougars were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Tigers, so the Cougars were just returning the favor.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The final score came out to 25-20, 25-21, 25-14.

Despite the defeat, Tekamah-Herman saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maryn Paul had ten digs and one assist.

Coming up, Lyons-Decatur Northeast will venture away from home to take on Humphrey-Lindsay on Tuesday. As for Tekamah-Herman, they will be taking part in a tournament against North Bend Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
