Baseball Recap: South River Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but South River ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Southern Bulldogs, sneaking past 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Bradley Taylor looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, South River let David Morris and Gavin Kunst run wild. Morris went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double, while Kunst scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four RBI gave Morris a new career-high.

South River's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Southern, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, South River and Southern will both be playing Meade the next time they take the field. South River will host Meade at 4:45 p.m. on Monday, while Southern will head out to face them at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
