Basketball Recap: Downingtown West Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Downingtown West, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They came out on top against the Mount Pleasant Green Knights by a score of 51-38 on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Whippets' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 102nd in Pennsylvania, while the Green Knights are ranked sixth in Delaware).

Downingtown West's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Mount Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Downingtown West and Central York will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Central York's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Mount Pleasant, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Caravel at 6:15 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
