Bravo is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Lincoln Tigers at 2:30 p.m. Bravo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.8 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Bravo after they put the first runs on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arleta. The loss was the Knights' first of the season.
Savannah Durazo made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Katherine Nungaray, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 6-1. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Mel Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Martinez was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gladys Barajas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Monica Vences was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Having lost for the first time this season, Bravo fell to 3-1. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bravo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .575. However, it's not like Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .495. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bravo took their win against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-9 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
