Football Recap: Benson Finds Playoff Glory Versus Phoenix Christian

It's playoff time, and Benson had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took down the Phoenix Christian Cougars 35-21 on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bobcats, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Dawson Judd had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 175 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries. Those 175 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Benson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Benson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Rawley Evans, Kolttin Deskins, and Jason Santo picked up one apiece. Deskins got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Benson's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Phoenix Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.

Benson will challenge Willcox at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Bobcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. Phoenix Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
