Basketball Game Preview: La Lumiere Lakers vs. Lake Forest Academy Caxys

The La Lumiere Lakers will venture away from home to face off against the Lake Forest Academy Caxys at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Saturday, La Lumiere was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-56 to Latin.

Meanwhile, Lake Forest Academy waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They strolled past the Eagles with points to spare, taking the game 64-50. Given the Caxys' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Eagles are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lake Forest Academy pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. As for La Lumiere, their loss dropped their record down to 13-4.

La Lumiere suffered a grim 77-51 defeat to Lake Forest Academy in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can La Lumiere avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
