Top recruits commit: QB Braxton Burmeister to Arizona, safety Derrick Tucker to Texas A&M

Arizona gets pledge from one of nation's top dual threat quarterbacks, A&M scores big and active safety.

One of country's top dual-threat standouts commits to Arizona


A pair of four-star football players from the Class of 2017 committed to colleges last week, including La Jolla Country Day (Calif.) quarterback Braxton Burmeister.

The mobile 6-foot-1, 211-pounder committed to Arizona on Friday. He has accounted for 9,040 yards and 115 touchdowns in three years at the small San Diego Section school. Burmeister is ranked the No. 9 dual-threat quarterback in the country (No. 260 overall) by 247Sports.

Derrick Tucker, a safety from Manvel (Texas), has committed to Texas A&M. Ranked the 14th-best safety in the country (146 overall), the 6-3, 180-pound Tucker had four interceptions and 49 tackles last season for Manvel, which went 11-3.
