Softball Recap: Sheridan Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Sheridan, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Blanchet Catholic Cavaliers by a score of 10-7 on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Cavaliers back in April, they had to take a 8-6 loss.

Madison Blacketer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Logen Watkins was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzie Paquin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Sheridan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sheridan's victory bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Blanchet Catholic, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Sheridan is set to face off against their familiar foe Yamhill-Carlton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Blanchet Catholic will square off against rival Santiam Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
