Baseball Recap: Selma Bears vs. Exeter Monarchs

Selma came into Thursday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past the Exeter Monarchs 9-8. This was a revenge matchup for Selma, as the team was forced to settle for a 3-2 defeat when these two played last Tuesday.

Jovani Tovar looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.

At the plate, Matthew Mora was incredible, going 4-for-4 with five RBI, a triple, and a stolen base. Braden Francis was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with three runs and a triple.

On Exeter's side, Jacob Molina made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruben Ruiz, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Even though they lost, Exeter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. This was only their first loss (out of six games) when they post 11 or more hits.

Selma's victory bumped their record up to 13-14. As for Exeter, their loss dropped their record down to 20-8.

As of now, neither Selma nor Exeter have any future games scheduled.
